At Traversing Travel we are passionate about responsible and sustainable tourism. As such, we partner with causes who aim to protect and conserve wildlife, the environment and local culture. We strive to make a positive impact in the world through deeper and more meaningful travel experiences. We want to ensure our great great grandchildren have a chance to experience the natural world as it was intended to be.
World Animal Protection
By signing World Animal Protection’s wildlife-friendly travel pledge, we are committing to not sell or promote wildlife entertainment activities, including elephant rides, swimming with dolphins, holding wildlife for selfies and other tourist activities that negatively impact animal welfare and wildlife conservation. We will only offer responsible viewing of wildlife in wild or in genuine sanctuaries and we encourage everyone to be animal-friendly when they travel.

Project Rhino
We are proud supporters of Project Rhino www.projectrhinokzn.org, an association of leading conservation agencies, state and community game reserves, rhino owners and anti-poaching specialists working together to conserve South Africa’s wildlife through zero tolerance for rhino poaching. A K9 unit has been established to stop wildlife crime as dogs are an essential tool in tracking down poachers, detecting wildlife products and recovering illegal weapons and ammunition.

Uthando (love) South Africa- Zama Dance School
Through our partner Uthando (love) South Africa, Traversing Travel supports the Zama Dance School in Cape Town. For every booking that includes Cape Town we will donate $10 to the school and we encourage our clients to match this. We also recommend that clients visiting Cape Town partake in a Philanthropic Cultural Tour with Uthando that could include a visit to the Zama Dance School! (tours are subject to availability)
Through the medium of dance and specifically classical ballet, Zama Dance School aims to develop young dancers, choreographers and teachers by equipping them with a sense of pride, self-discipline and achievement. Zama was established in 1990 in Gugulethu (a Cape Town township) and seeks to improve at-risk children’s lives by helping them create a spirit of happiness and a sense of self-worth. The school’s aim is to change children’s lives for the better, to develop young choreographers, dancers and teachers with a sense of team work, self-discipline, pride and achievement. Zama caters for up to 100 students between the ages of 6 and 17 years. Students are taught ballet three times a week, and work with both locally and internationally acclaimed guest teachers and choreographers. Zama students are also fed nutritious meals after their classes and rehearsals.

Trees4Travel
One of our aims is to bring awareness to and support an eco-friendly environment wherever possible. One of the simplest yet most powerful acts to combat climate change and eliminate CO2 from the air comes from the planting of trees. We have partnered with Trees4Travel to give you an easier way to offset your carbon footprint. For every tree you purchase, Traversing Travel will donate an additional tree on your behalf. For more information, please visit https://www.trees4travel.com/ where you can set up an account and use the handy CO2 Calculator.
